Add some actual light to the interior of your taco!
For those of you with a 01-04 Tacoma that have had issues with LED bulbs working in their trucks, we have a solution for you! I have designed a custom festoon bulb adapter that has the correctly sized resistor (that won’t overheat), that will allow your dome light to operate like a factory incandescent bulb. So when you open the door of your truck, your dome light will come on and slowly dim off when you close the door!
This will convert your rear interior dome light in your truck to the ever popular Baja Designs Rock Light. Providing all the light you need in your cab to hopefully never have to turn your phone flashlight on again.
If you are looking for the same function, but in a more budget friendly option, there is a model that uses the Harbor Freight rock lights. Light output is near the same, but the light housing itself is larger than the higher-end Baja Designs light. See photos for comparison.
Both reuse the factory switch plate and circuit to keep operation simple and wiring straightforward.
NOTE: If buying Baja Designs rocklight model, please purchase their regular rocklight. Do not purchase the "dome-light" model that has a built in button. This will mess with the function of the factory switch. Here is a link to the correct one on BD's website.
REQUIRED (Please Note):
Select the correct product listing to match the year range of your Taco in order to receive the correct festoon bulb adapter (if you have had issues with LED bulbs working in your dome lights, pick the 01-04 option)
Refer to the pictures of factory switch plates in photos, there are 3 known models for the 1st Gen Taco, select appropriate model
Pop off the factory lens with a screw driver to expose the factory switch plate
Option A is the switch plate with the external metal bands
Option B is the switch plate with no external bands
Option C is the switch plate that was found on the early years of the 1st Gen Taco
